Taking a Break

It's not easy coming up with pithy and amusing things to write about every day. I'm still working on the promised but delayed Ariel Awards for this year and while I could probably prattle on about some subject or other which has significance to myself and a small circle of my friends, I'd rather wait until I have something I think is significant to say to everyone.

Of course, it's not that I imagine anything I have to say has any real significance at all. I'm not quite that arrogant (or at least I a hope I'm not). Still, it's unfair for me to expect you to hang on every little thing I write. Indeed, all of us probably have better things to do.

I'm still fighting my annual battle with S.A.D. but hoping that the upcoming reunion dinner with my amazing Top Girls cast on Saturday will bring some relief. And thoughts of my usually annual trek to the Sunshine State (delayed thanks to last year's forced Home Improvement debacles) is looming. It's amazing what 10 days of 80+ degree weather can do for one's spirits). And hopefully, something will come along to alleviate all the terrible news coming out of Egypt and other Middle Eastern nations. Or maybe something incredibly and fabulously gay will come along to make me laugh and want to share.

I'm still trying to get the JTMF regulars together to make an "It Gets Better" video for The Trevor Project before it becomes passe, a task proving equal to herding cats. And I'm starting to work on pre-production for JTMF's upcoming production of Charles Busch's Die Mommie, Die! for our annual June fundraiser, but that seems so far away...

The winter will end and Uncle P will rebound (at least I hope I will). And I am often amazed at how therapeutic blogging (i.e. bitching publicly) can be. I thank all of you for hanging in with me and promise I'll have some funny and (hopefully) thought-provoking things to say soon.

Maybe something out-and-out silly will help:

Linkity-Linkity-Link-Link-Link.

"A little nonsense now and then

Is treasured by the wisest men."

Or so says Willy Wonka. By now, you should know Uncle Prospero loves him some nonsense. And this image is probably the most nonsensical (not to mention innately disturbing) thing I came across today. I wish I could remember where I found it, so I could credit the blogger who posted it, but I was at work and didn't jot it down (if you know, please comment so I credit whoever it was).

I know there's a lot of weird and kinky fan art and fan fiction floating around out there. Everything from Kirk/Spock sex and Frodo/Sam sex to fan-written stories set on the "Lost" island, but this depiction of Alf and someone I can only assume is Matt Frewer, takes the cake.

Oddly, it's not the only bit of nonsense I have to talk about, tonight.

There's this video posted at Boy Culture, of the Korean "Ladyboy Gaga" that made me giggle.

And this post over at JA's My New Plaid Pants of my obsession (not exactly nonsense, but something that makes me wish I was a pair of shorts).

And then there's this hilarious interview with Andy Roddick that turns into Koala Porn (via):

Finally, just because I'm posting about nonsense, here's the silliest (and possibly funniest episode of "Ren and Stimpy" ever:

"Carmaly, carmaly carmal corn!" Yum!

More nonsense, anon.

"Hurt You BAD!"

Creepy, ain't he?

I came across the movie I'm going to briefly discuss while researching my "Shocktober" post on Evil Child Syndrome, but I had never seen it, and couldn't find a way to include it's ineptitude in that particular entry.

Still, given my propensity for all things MST3K and almost all things snarky, I felt it my duty to share with you the trailer for what may well be the single worst film in history. Seriously.

Plan Nine from Outer Space may be the 'official' Worst Movie Ever Made, but that's only because right wingnut movie critic Michael Medved and his brother said so in their book The Golden Turkey Awards, back in the 80's.

But, just on the evidence provided by the trailer, I think the 1977 stinkeroo The Child may honestly be the actual holder of that rather dubious title:

Okay, I've watched that trailer three times and I still have absolutely no idea WTF this movie is about, other than Rosalie is a satanic killer in the body of a child? Or is a child possessed by a satanic killer? Or.. Oh, really! I have no friggin' clue what this movie is actually about. All I know is, I MUST see it!

Really? What the hell is wrong with me? I know - if I don't know, how the hell should you? Still, if you have a clue as to where I might find a copy of this atrocity, please let me know.

Wow - 3 short posts in one night! I'm spent...

Private Post

This post is not really private. How can it be? There is no such thing as privacy in the blogosphere (indeed, even in cyberspace, itself). Google has all of our personal information and Microsoft owns our souls.

Every now and then I come across something which pertains to not only myself, but to one or two specific individuals among my circle of friends and acquaintances. The video embedded below is a prime example.

My dear, insane and brilliant and oh-so-very-gay fellow blogger Stephen Rader is a massive comic book geek. And when I find weird, outrageous or just effed-up Superhero stuff, I usually send it to him without always sharing with the rest of you. And my dear D, in addition to being as big a movie geek as I am and a brilliant young actor, is oh-so-very-Italian. How appropriate then, is it to dedicate this particular post and video to the two of them? Ladies and germs (via) comes Italian Spiderman:

I have no idea if this is a real trailer or a spoof. If it's the latter, then it is brilliant. If it's the former... then Uwe Boll and Paul W.S. Anderson are cinematic geniuses. My personal Spidey Sense says: "Be afraid. be very afraid."
